One Child at a Time
Jack, a student at Dick Scobee Elementary School, has struggled with reading and keeping up with class. Once a week, he takes time during his free time at school to work harder on his reading skills with a tutor-mentor through Communities In Schools. "My student, Jack is such a great kid. He is so eager to learn," says Tessa, his tutor. Jack -- growing and learning through tutoring -- has even taken more of an proactive interest in his education, through the help of mentors like Tessa, by taking steps to further his growth and learning with additional tutoring during the week after school.

Back to School Supply Drive

Communities In Schools of Auburn is holding its annual Back to School Supply Drive. This year, thanks to Costco, Edward R. Jones, Family of Grace Church, and many others, CIS Auburn will be distributing over 500 new backpacks throughout all Auburn schools. We hope to fill as many backpacks as possible with needed school supplies to help students start the year on the right foot. You can help by donating schools supplies at our office (502 4th Street NE, Auburn, WA) or at our donation box at Auburn Way Self Storage, 4425 Auburn Way North, Auburn, WA 98002.
